Power tool online store: the buyer asks not about the price but whether the battery will fit

In a power tool online store, the sale is decided not by the picture but by the specifications table. The buyer already knows what they need and is looking for confirmation: whether the voltage is enough, whether this battery fits the drill they already have, whether there are accessories and spare parts for the model. A store that does not answer these questions on the page answers them with a manager's phone call — and loses those who will not call. We build a catalog in which specifications are fields and compatibility is visible before the order.

Who it's for

Situations where this service delivers results

Scenario 1 of 4

A tool store with a physical location

You have the range, the suppliers and in-store consultants. Online there is no consultant, so the product card has to do their job: specifications, compatibility, availability.

We'll review your situation in a free audit
What's included

Complete list of work and what you get as a result

  • a catalog with filters by voltage, power, power source, brand and application
  • technical specifications as catalog fields, not text in the description
  • compatibility links: which accessories and which batteries fit a specific model
  • a spare parts section linked to tool models
  • availability display split into “in stock” and “to order” with a lead time
  • model comparison by specifications within a category
  • checkout with Ukrainian delivery and payment methods
  • a technical foundation for search: structured data, breadcrumbs, canonical URLs, the sitemap
  • handover with a description of the catalog and rules for adding new items
When this service isn't right

What's not included — so there are no surprises at delivery

  • servicing and repair of tools
  • product photography and writing descriptions
  • arrangements with suppliers about availability and delivery times
  • promises of search rankings or a specific sales volume
  • verifying the accuracy of specifications provided by the manufacturer

Free review of your task

We look at what sets this niche apart: specifications, compatibility and spare parts. These are the three things on which tool stores lose orders most often.

What we measure

  1. What form your specifications are inIf voltage and power sit in the text description, filtering by them is impossible until the data is split into fields. This is often the largest part of the work.
  2. Whether compatibility is describedWe check whether your data contains the “model — accessory — battery” link anywhere, or whether it exists only in your consultants' heads.
  3. How spare parts are foundWe check whether a brush or a chain for a specific model can be found on the site without knowing the part number.
  4. How availability is shownWhether the buyer sees the difference between what is in stock and what is being shipped in — before checkout, not after a phone call.
  5. The technical state of the existing siteResponse speed, structured data, canonical URLs, breadcrumb markup — the same things we measured in the stores of this niche.
  6. How many brands and systemsThe number of battery platforms determines how complex the compatibility links will be.

What you get

  • a list of what affects results in the niche, with the reasons explained
  • a proposed catalog structure for specifications and compatibility
  • an estimate of the work broken down by stage
  • an honest answer on whether you need this work at all

Timeline: 2–4 working days

Why is it free

A store with 500 items and no spare parts and a store with accessories for a dozen platforms differ in scope several times over. Without a review, any figure would be guesswork.

What's next

You receive the list and an estimate. Then you decide for yourself — the document stays with you in any case.

  • Contract, act and 30-day warranty

Every project gets a written contract: scope, deadlines, amount, acceptance procedure. After delivery — act and invoice, then 30 calendar days of warranty.

  • Rights & access — yours

Code, design and materials transfer to you after full payment. Domain, hosting, repository and analytics are registered to you.

  • Client portal instead of email chains

During the project you get access to a portal: contracts, invoices, acts and project status in one place.

  • Sites in nine countries

Our sites run in nine countries: besides Ukraine — Poland, Germany, Austria, England, Norway, Bulgaria, Moldova and Spain.

  • Verifiable numbers

Every case in the portfolio comes with a link to a live site and a technical measurement.

  • Audit first, then pricing

There is no price list on the site intentionally: the scope of the same work differs multiples between clients.

  • We say "no" when unsure

If the task isn't ours or the deadline is unrealistic — we tell you upfront.

What affects the price

Why two seemingly identical tasks are priced differently

  • State of the technical dataSpecifications as fields mean quick work on filters. Specifications as text mean splitting the data first, and that is a separate stage of noticeable scope.
  • Number of compatibility linksOne battery platform is simple to describe. A dozen brands with their own systems means a matrix of links that has to be compiled and checked.
  • Whether there is a spare parts sectionSpare parts require links to models — a separate data structure without which the section exists but does not work.
  • Catalog sizeA few hundred items can be moved almost by hand. Tens of thousands require automated migration and spot checks — a different kind of work.
  • Handling availabilityShowing a lead time for items to order requires data from the supplier or rules you set yourself.
  • Whether there is anything to migrateA new store is simpler than a migration: the second case adds preserving URLs, redirects and reconciling the catalog after the move.
Process steps

Transparent stages with approval at every step

Total duration:20–60 days

  1. Reviewing the task

    2–4 working days

We look at the state of the specifications, whether compatibility data exists, and how spare parts are searched for now. If there is already a site, we measure its technical state.

  2. Catalog structure

    4–8 working days

We design the categories, the set of technical fields and the filters for them. At the same stage we decide how to describe compatibility and how to link spare parts to models.

  3. Building the store

    10–30 working days

We build the catalog, the product card with specifications, the filters and model comparison. We work in a test environment.

  4. Compatibility and spare parts

    5–15 working days

We fill in the “model — accessory — battery” links, connect the spare parts section with search by model, and set up availability display with lead times.

  5. Technical foundation for search

    3–7 working days

Structured data, breadcrumbs, canonical URLs, the sitemap, response speed. In the measured stores of this niche, this is what was missing most often.

  6. Launch and handover

    2–5 working days

We roll out the store, watch the first orders, and hand over a description of the catalog and the rules for adding items. After that the 30-day warranty applies from the date the acceptance act is signed.

Catalog with specifications or a regular storefront

How this option differs from the alternative

Storefront with text descriptionsOur approach
How the buyer narrows down the choiceby scrolling through the category and reading descriptionswith filters by voltage, power and power source
Compatibility questionsa call to a manager or giving up on the purchasevisible on the product card before the order
Finding spare partsby part number, if the buyer knows itby tool model
Model comparisonimpossible, because the descriptions are in different formatsas a table with identical fields
Preparation costlower, and that is exactly why most stores do it this wayhigher: the data has to be split into fields

Tasks and results in numbers — all metrics measured by us

a sample of 4 Ukrainian online stores in the “power tools” niche

Task
Find out what state the sites in the “power tools” niche are actually in, rather than what their owners say: the technical foundation, measurement and site size.
Solution
An external measurement without access to anyone else's admin panels: first response time as the median of several measurements, the catalog from the sitemap with URL deduplication, counters in the home page HTML, the PHP version from the headers, hreflang, TLS, robots.txt and the canonical URL.
Result
Measured on 17 September 2026: 4 Ukrainian online stores in the “power tools” niche were checked. 4 of 4 have no breadcrumb markup; 4 of 4 have no local business markup; 3 of 4 have no canonical URL on the homepage; 1 of 4 have no structured data. Median first response time: 490.9 ms; median sitemap size: 10,716 URLs.

online store of an official seller of garden equipment and spare parts

Task
Sell Husqvarna equipment and spare parts for it: chainsaws, lawn mowers, trimmers, accessories. The store needed a catalog with deeply nested categories, filters by power and engine type, model comparison, up-to-date stock and prices from the accounting system, payment and delivery services.
Solution
A store on OpenCart 3.x (revolution theme, HTTP/2) with a spare parts catalog up to 4 levels deep. 8 payment methods are connected — LiqPay, monobank installments (3 payments), payment by IBAN, bank transfer with VAT, payment on receipt, Visa, Mastercard, PrivatBank — and 4 delivery options: Nova Poshta, Meest Express, Rozetka Delivery, pickup. Analytics: Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics (gtag), the Rozetka marketplace, a Google Reviews module. Organization, Store, Place, GeoCoordinates and WebSite/SearchAction markup; two language versions, uk/ru, with x-default; robots.txt explicitly declares the sitemap URL.
Result
As of 31 July 2026 the store is up (HTTP 200, HTTPS); catalog: 55,321 product pages in the sitemap (18 sub-sitemaps of 3,000 URLs + 1,321 in the 19th) and 3,868 categories — 59,189 URLs in total; at this volume the first server response takes 840 ms, full HTML load 997 ms; 6 JSON-LD types, including Store + Place + GeoCoordinates (local SEO) and WebSite/SearchAction (sitelinks search box); 8 payment methods and 4 delivery options.
What we need from you

We can't start without this — best to prepare in advance

  1. a catalog with technical specifications in whatever form you have
  2. compatibility data for accessories and batteries, if you have it
  3. a list of brands and the terms of working with them
  4. how availability and delivery times are tracked now
  5. terms of delivery, warranty and service
  6. who on your side accepts the work and can answer substantive questions
If something is missing — let us know, we'll help you gather it or do it as a separate task.
FAQ

Most frequently asked questions — with concrete answers

Our specifications are only in the descriptions — is that a lot of work?

This is the most underestimated part of the project. While voltage, power and chuck type sit inside the text, filtering by them is impossible: you can only filter by fields. The amount of work depends on the number of items and on how uniformly the descriptions are written. At the review we show this figure separately, so it does not become a surprise in the middle of the project.

How do we describe compatibility if it is not written down anywhere?

It usually exists as your consultants' knowledge and the manufacturer's documentation. We help turn this into a structure: battery platform, accessory mount type, model series. Your side fills it in — we provide the form the data goes into, because we cannot verify compatibility for you and will not make it up.

Do we need a separate spare parts section?

If you sell them, yes, and what matters in it is not the list but search by model. A buyer rarely knows the part number of a carbon brush; they know which tool they have. Without this link the section formally exists, but nothing can be found in it.

How long does development take?

24 to 65 working days. The spread depends mainly on the state of the specifications and the number of compatibility links. We name the exact timeline after the review, when the volume of data is clear.

Do you guarantee search rankings?

No. Nobody who understands how search works guarantees rankings. We are responsible for the technical foundation: speed, structured data, canonical URLs, breadcrumbs, the sitemap. In the stores of this niche that we measured, this was most often missing entirely — and it is the part we actually influence.

Can we launch sooner and add filters later?

Yes. The working order: first the catalog, the product card and checkout, then specifications as fields and filters, then compatibility and spare parts. The store is already selling after the first stage, and the next ones are added without reworking what has been done.

What happens after launch if something goes wrong?

A 30-calendar-day warranty applies from the date the acceptance act is signed: mistakes that are our fault are fixed free of charge. This is a clause in the contract. The domain, hosting and analytics are registered in your name, so access stays with you.

Do you build only on OpenCart?

Most often, yes — it is the platform where we have the most experience with large catalogs. We have also built on WooCommerce and on custom platforms. At the review we will tell you what fits your case better, and why.

  • We work under a contract

There is no price list on the site on purpose: the same work differs several times over between two clients, and a “from” figure explains nothing in that case. First a free audit — we count your pages, duplicates and speed — then we name the sum and the deadline and fix both in the contract.
