Promoting a fitness club: demand spikes in January, but visibility is built in summer

In fitness, demand is uneven: after the holidays and in spring far more people are looking than in the off-season. The problem is that search visibility cannot be switched on in the right month — it builds up over months. That is why clubs that start promotion in January mostly make it in time for the following January. We build visibility for the searches that bring in people from the neighborhood: the class type, a gym nearby, a trial class.

Free audit of your presence

We check whether there is anything to build on in search and whether you will make it before the season, if that is what you are aiming for.

What we measure

  1. Are there pages for class typesIf the site has a single page listing all classes, there is nothing to show in search: people look for a specific class type.
  2. What form the schedule is inAn image or a file is invisible to search. A schedule as a page gives both convenience and visibility for schedule searches.
  3. State of the maps profileFor a club in a residential neighborhood this is often the main source of new clients, and it is the one most often underrated.
  4. Are membership prices visible“Price by phone” filters out some people before they call and does nothing for visibility.
  5. Technical baseSpeed, breadcrumbs, canonical URLs — the same things we measured on sites in this niche.
  6. How much time is left before your seasonIf the demand spike is two months away, it is more honest to say you will not make it and plan for the next one.

What you get

  • a list of class types worth giving their own pages
  • an assessment of which gives more: the maps profile or the site
  • an estimate of the work broken down by stage
  • an honest answer about timelines that takes your seasonality into account

Timeline: 3–5 working days

Why is it free

The key question in this niche is not “how much does it cost” but “will we make it in time.” It can only be answered by looking at the actual state of things.

What's next

You get the list and the estimate. Then you decide for yourself — the document stays with you.

What affects the price

Why two seemingly identical tasks are priced differently

  • Number of class typesThree class types is a small scope. A full list of group classes means dozens of pages, each with its own content.
  • Number of locationsA chain needs separate pages for each address, separate schedules and work on the profile of every location.
  • What form the schedule is inMoving the schedule from an image onto a page is a separate piece of work, but it immediately delivers both visibility and convenience for the client.
  • State of the maps profileA neglected profile gives the fastest growth. It is the inexpensive part with a noticeable effect, especially in residential neighborhoods.
  • Competition in the neighborhoodNext to a big chain you need sharper specialization by class type, and that affects the amount of content work.
  • Technical state of the siteIf the site is slow and has no markup, the technical part comes first — otherwise the rest of the work will not be seen.
Who it's for

Situations where this service delivers results

Scenario 1 of 4

A club in a residential neighborhood

The core audience is people who live or work nearby. A search like “gym [neighborhood]” is worth more here than any generic city-wide phrase.

Process steps

Transparent stages with approval at every step

Total duration:30–150 days

  1. Audit and a plan that accounts for the season

    3–5 working days

We look at the site, the maps profile and your demand calendar. If we cannot make it before the season, we say so right away and plan for the next one.

  2. The maps profile

    3–7 working days

We put categories, hours, gym photos and attributes in order. The fastest part, with a noticeable effect in local search.

  3. Schedule and class types

    10–30 working days

We move the schedule onto a page and build pages for each class type, covering who it suits and how long it lasts.

  4. Trial class

    3–7 working days

We build a dedicated page for the main entry point for a new client: what it is, how long it lasts, what to bring, how to sign up.

  5. Local markup and the technical base

    5–12 working days

We add markup with the address and hours, reconcile it with the maps and bring page speed up to standard.

  6. Monitoring and reporting

    monthly

Every month we review visibility by class type and the inquiries, show what worked and what did not, and adjust the plan.

Tasks and results in numbers — all metrics measured by us

a sample of 5 Ukrainian websites in the “fitness” niche

Task
Find out the real state of websites in the fitness niche rather than the state their owners describe: the technical base, measurement and site size.
Solution
An external measurement with no access to anyone else's admin panels: time to first response as the median of several measurements, the catalog from the sitemap with duplicate URLs removed, counters in the homepage HTML, the PHP version from the headers, hreflang, TLS, robots.txt and the canonical URL.
Result
Measured on 17 September 2026: 5 Ukrainian websites in the “fitness” niche were checked. 5 of 5 have no structured data; 5 of 5 have no breadcrumb markup; 5 of 5 have no local business markup; 3 of 5 have no canonical URL on the homepage. Median first response time: 154.9 ms; median sitemap size: 43 URLs.

Visibility by class type versus competing with chains

How this option differs from the alternative

Promotion for “fitness club [city]”Our approach
Who you compete withchains and aggregatorsclubs in your own neighborhood
Who comes intraffic from across the city, mostly untargetedsomeone who finds you easy to get to
Time to resultslonger, with lower oddsmonths
Costrequires continuous spendingmoderate; part of the work happens off the site
Who it suitsbetter suited to chains with a budgetclubs and studios with a physical address
What we need from you

We can't start without this — best to prepare in advance

  1. access to the site, Google Search Console and analytics
  2. the class schedule and the list of class types
  3. prices of memberships and single visits
  4. access to the club's maps profile
  5. when your seasonal demand spike happens
  6. who on your side accepts the work

FAQ

Most frequently asked questions — with concrete answers

We want to be visible in January — when should we start?

Six months ahead, and earlier is better. Search visibility builds up over months, and a club that starts promotion in December usually makes it in time for the following January, not the coming one. This is the single most important thing about this niche, and we raise it during the audit, not halfway through the work.

Can we realistically compete with a big chain?

For generic searches like “fitness club [city]”, hardly at all, and we don't advise trying. For a class type plus a neighborhood, absolutely: people look for a gym near home, and a chain has no advantage there. That is exactly what we build the work on.

Do you guarantee rankings?

No. We are responsible for the work: class pages, a schedule search engines can read, local data, the maps profile, the technical base. The result also depends on competition in your area, and it shows in the monthly report — including what did not work.

Is a schedule posted as an image a problem?

Yes, for two reasons at once. Search cannot see what is inside an image, so you do not appear for schedule searches. And a client cannot use it properly on a phone. Moving the schedule onto a page solves both problems with one piece of work.

Should we publish membership prices?

Yes. “Price by phone” filters out some people before they ever call, and for search such a page means almost nothing. If your discount system is complex, the basic options are enough, with an explanation of what the rest depends on.

What gives more — the maps profile or the website?

For a club in a residential neighborhood the profile often brings faster growth: people search for “gym near me” and choose from the map. So we usually start with it, even though it is less work for us, and only then move on to the site.

Can you pad our reviews with fake ones?

We do not do that. Fake reviews get detected, and the penalties hit the maps profile — exactly the thing that brings in new clients. Instead, we set up the collection of real reviews and help you respond properly to negative ones.

Can we write about training programs?

Describing class types and class formats — yes. The site does not give specific recommendations on training loads: that is your trainer's job. Neither you nor we should put that kind of responsibility on a text.

  • We work under a contract

There is no price list on the site on purpose: the same work differs several times over between two clients, and a “from” figure explains nothing in that case. First a free audit — we count your pages, duplicates and speed — then we name the sum and the deadline and fix both in the contract.
